CHINESE HOSPITAL MRI DELIVERY

On Saturday, we had a 12,500 pound MRI unit delivered to the Chinese Hospital construction site. This was particularly challenging as no delivery truck large enough to hold the machine could make the turn into Trenton Street. The transfer to a forklift was made mid-intersection at Washington and Powell streets; client and design team alike then held their breath, crossed their fingers and toes, and watched as the $1.5 million dollar device was finessed around the steeply banked corner and delivered successfully into the building, clearing the opening by mere inches.

After a controlled descent down a 30’, purpose-built shaft, the machine was moved the final two hundred feet by hand, and positioned in the basement. After extensive testing and commissioning, the MRI is expected to see it’s first patients in September.
