Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center

Project Details

  • Client: City and County of San Francisco
  • Size: 448,000 SF
  • Construction Completed: 2015

The San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center is the only Level 1 Trauma center serving San Francisco and northern San Mateo County. To meet state seismic safety standards, the SFGH Rebuild Program will replace the existing main hospital building with a compliant structure. The new building will replace and expand the capacity of the existing facility, providing 284 general acute care beds, a 60-bed emergency department, and 14 operating rooms.

As consultants to Fong & Chan Architects, MEI assisted in developing and detailing portions of the facade and sun shade system for the new building.
